review 1: Ok, so I liked the book. But I liked her other books much more. Angelique really annoyed me and I just couldn't connect with her character. Quite honestly if I had been one of the men I would have dropped her in a heartbeat because I'm sure there were other reluctant women that could at least be polite. I'm from NOLA, and I just would never speak with such negativity as this character did. She was just a huge PITA and while I don't condone violence, (Spoiler) I understand why she got beat the first time. (sorry if that offends anyone, like I said I don't condone violence, and its never the correct answer, but I do think that sometimes, SOMETIMES, I can understand why people get frustrated)Anyway, it was an ok book, but I was disappointed. Dixie has always been my "bu... morey it no matter what" type of author. Now, I'll be a bit more cautious in the future with her.
review 2: The first intimate scene in the book was scorching hot. After the 3rd sex scene though, I admit to skimming a page or two to get back to the story. The two things I didn’t like about this book, and I know it’s going to be in the rest of the series but I’ll manage, is writing in accents, which I’ve never liked, and there was an inconsistency on top of it. One person would refer to a brother as bro in one sentence and bra in the next. This was, unfortunately, consistent throughout the book and it was a little annoying on top of having to read the accent and gross misuse of grammar due to those accents in the first place. While I understand the need to get something like a sexy Cajun drawl across to the reader you shouldn’t make them actually read it. But, that’s always been a pet peeve for me anyway. less
