review 1: 4.5 stars. I loved the way Irelyn and Zolt came together, a one time chance encounter during a pivotal moment in Zolt's life and how they both clung to that memory of the other even though no words were exchanged. So much was felt during that time, enough that when they actually meet again 6 years later, the sparks fly immediately and as much as they try to avoid one another, there's no denying the chemistry and need to be close to the other. Why are they avoiding each other? Because Zolt is broken and doesn't do relationships, especially not with the boss's daughter, and Irelyn is in a relationship already, albeit her boyfriend Marcus is more like the epitome of the anti-boyfriend. Even so, as forbidden as their relationship might seem, it actually appears to be the only ... morething right going on for either of them. There's other elements to the book that connect Zolt and Irelyn even more so and those elements add danger to both of their lives, particularly Irelyn's. Zolt may not believe in committment, but he wants to with Irelyn and once she is his, he is completely alpha all the way. He has so many great qualities - caring, protective, loyal - but he doesn't have the track record of a saint and he is plagued by the pain and memories of his leg injury on a daily basis so he is prone to being a jerk as well. Irelyn is compassionate, confident and loving, but after her brother's death, she withdrew into herself and under Marcus' control, he tried to mold Irelyn into someone she wasn't and he didn't treat her well at all. With Zolt, Irelyn is free to be like her real self. With Irelyn, Zolt wants to be a better version of himself because she is his angel and seraph, a savior in the form of a girl who adores him entirely without pity. Every scene with them together is beautiful and emotional for them. Unfortunately, with other issues at play, they can't be together without repercussions and Irelyn has to make a choice for the people she loves even if it means sacrificing her own happiness. Thankfully I can just jump to the next book because there's a cliffhanger.
review 2: The book started of slow for me and I was nervous I wouldn't get in to it but I kept with it and I'm glad I did! Zolt was a quarterback until he suffered a career ending injury. that day on the field he made a conection with a woman who he thought was a hallucination. He moves on and starts a new career at a law firm and comes face to face with his hallucination, Irelyn Wilkes! Irelyn feels she inherited her boyfriend Matt and wants to get rid of him. When Zolt digs into an old case and things start to surface it makes it easier for Irelyn to do just that. This book has a big cliffy and I can't wait to read the next book! less
