review 1: I picked up this book solely to fulfill a library reading program requirement (read a book about surfing), but I was very pleasantly surprised. The Gentleman's Hour is a delightful and fairly light-hearted crime novel, with fun, engaging characters, a witty writing voice and a good plot. Winslow also adeptly ties the art and philosophy of surfing into the story without becoming too heavy-handed. A fun read.
review 2: The second story for the main character Boone. His girlfriend, Sunny left him before the first story, Dawn Patrol, and now his new girlfriend drags him into investigating the confessed murder by Corey of K2, a surfing "god". Of course Boone takes the job as a PI, because it's what K2 would want and he finds Corey probably didn't do it, but is takin... moreg the fall for his white supremist buddies. Great story, so well written. You really feel for the Boone and all he is going through to do the rignt thing at all times. I can't wait to read another book by Winslow. less
