review 1: I don't think it's overstating to say that Winslow is a genius. I don't know how one becomes a writer quite as fine as Winslow but if I could take a pill for it I certainly would. Kings Of Cool - a prequel to Savages - is no exception to this talented author's cannon. While not his most powerful work, it displays all the hallmarks of an exceptional author. If you love originally written mysteries, this is a great choice...as are all of Winslow's novels.
review 2: I had a lot of expectations and thankfully old Donnie boy didn't disappoint. I can't be sure all the facts check out against the original and again I'm not into the one-page obligatory diatribe on modern day society but I loved it nonetheless. Ben and Chon and O are just so damn lovable. Plus the s... moretory is suspenseful and ties up so nicely in the end (but not in an obvious way). PS if you are familiar with "The Californians" skit on SNL you will appreciate chapter 197:) less
