review 1: In this much-needed and very touching tribute to first responders, one hopes the child reader--and the adult!--comes away with the idea that compassion trumps experience, and that a determination to protect the helpless wins out every time. Once again, Ms. Cronin has wrapped an important idea in a fun reading experience. The most poignant exchanges are between Newbie and the giraffe, and these lay the groundwork for the theme of the book. I especially enjoyed seeing the "bad guys" simply go away! It was impossible not to think of recent events, such as 9/11, and the heroism of so many. This becomes, then, a "safe" method for introducing some important American history to tender little minds. Well done, Doreen Cronin!
review 2: Rescue Bunnies was a Goodreads swe
... moreeps winner for me. I really enjoyed this childrens book, and I am looking forward to reading it to my grandson. It was very cute how the little bunnies mastered getting the giraffe out of the mud. Newbie will have to practice more to pass the field test but I am sure the practice will help him pass next time. Newbies big heart will go a long way, and he will have to learn other life challenges as he continues to grow. Thank you for picking me as one of the winners of this very cute book. I so enjoy the books that Goodreads have given me. less

For an older audience than most of Cronin's books. Lots of gags thrown in for the adults.

Reads like a bunch of movie quotes, but I liked the moral.
