review 1: Definitely the bestselling author did a great job of putting the reader in the setting and I did get to know the characters, just the pacing was very slow. She spent more time on a storm than wrapping things up at the end. And, the ending was a little unsettling which was disappointing. But, still a fairly good read of that time period that I enjoy reading/writing about. I hope anyone who read this book will read FLIGHT OF LITTLE DOVE, too.
review 2: Pearl and Hallie come upon a man beating their friend, Mary. Pearl shoots him in the leg and they take off om a wagon pulled by a team of horses. Their journy leads them to a horrible storm and Mary is swwept away in a raging river,. Rescued by Eli and his Uncle Hank, they take refuge on the Morgan ranch. There... more they meet Eli's brother Abe, who thinks he is President Lincoln, who has been dead for 30 years or more. So me other interesting and mean characters make for a good read. A story that makes you think of simpler times. gun fights and all !!!!! less
