review 1: Jack is a senior FBI agent and Ross is a new FBI agent and they have just become a team. They are seeking a bank robber who has gone beyond robbing banks to killing a pregnant woman right in front of the security cameras. This is an exciting book with plot twists, one after the other. The Governor (the bad guy) is a truly bad guy who has no conscience. He kills indiscriminately and has no qualms about anything he does. He is certainly a villainous villain. There is a great deal of action and the plot moves along quickly. There is enough of Jack's personal life to keep things human and not just one event after another. All in all, this is a well developed plot with interesting characters. For a first time author this a wonderful start. I hope the n... moreext book finds a way to have Jack and Ross partner up again. They are a good team and their interaction is entertaining and interesting.I do not want to give away any of the story, so I will not be more specific, but the atmosphere and characterizations are terrific. I would not have expected adventures in a sewer system. If you like thrillers, this is a book that will hold your interest and be a quick and entertaining read.
review 2: At first, I thought that I was going to rate this book four stars, but then toward the end, I changed my mind. A criminal dubbed The Governor by the newspapers, is planning to rob the Federal Reserve bank, along with a Russian confederate. THey are up against several FBI guys, headed by Jack. This is a nook book, which makes it hard to refer back to names and events, unlike a paperback. Jack's young partner has a hard time, getting injured in one arm, which DOES slow him down a little. However, Junior, as Jack dubs him, comes up with some good ideas. THe plans are to attack the bank underground, using tunnels and sewers. Jack has been estranged from his wife and two children--she has moved to her parents' home. It gets rather mushy at times. THere are some exciting passages. less

New author, not too long a novel, but a good thriller.

Fun read. Well written, but seemed to end abruptly.
