review 1: The story itself was fun to read. I enjoyed following the character through her journey and how she was cursed to tell the truth to the first question a person asked and she could answer any first question. Can you imagine being able to meet someone who was able to do that? I also liked the struggles the author put her through and how she overcame them. The problem is I hated the ending. The ending is what is keeping this book at a three star and not a three and a half or a four. I do not want to ruin the ending for the people who have not read the book yet so I will not include any spoilers, but I found the main character selfish and uncaring. She made me mad and I wanted to throw a rock at her head to knock some sense in her head because I feel like she lacked com... morepassion about the new one.
review 2: This was an adorable little book that I just flew through. I especially love how even though Serafina was thrown into a completely unknown and unexpected situation, she didn't mope and whine. She did what she could to make the best of the situation and never lost hope that she could make things right. This is a wonderful book for middle school aged girls (and really anyone who likes a bit of magic in their life), I think. less

Another story Laurel and I read together and enjoyed. This is version of a Baba Yaga story.

Very clever and a lot of fun. Read it to my daughter, but I thoroughly enjoyed it also.

I liked this book, but less when she was "old".
