review 1: I did not enjoy this novel as much as Chasing Serenity. I couldn't connect with Mollie's character and I found the romance with Vaughn to be lukewarm. The major reason that I couldn't get into this novel stemmed from the bodyguard plot. I have read so, so many bodyguard novels (FBI, military, police) that it becomes too formulaic. I will note that what this novel did was interest me in Donovan and Layla's story. That sounds like it would be a funny and intense read!
review 2: * ARC provided by the author for an honest review *Oh my goodness Eden Butler did it again. She killed it. Finding Serenity is book 2 in the Seeking Serenity series and so far my favorite. I loved the first book Chasing Serenity but this one was in my opinion so much better. It brought
... more in romance and mystery in one. I couldn't put it down. Mollie Malone is a badass. Abandoned by her mom and raised by her biker dad she was used to having to take care of herself at a young age. Her dad did a lot of things that were illegal and would get in trouble with the law but he would always be back within a day or so to take care of Mollie. That is until the last time the cops busted into their house. Her father told her to hide and that was the last time they would be together in that house. A few days passed and her mom shows up to take her to the small town of Cavanagh. Her mom could give a crap less about what happened to Mollie. So Mollie went and found her own family in the friends she met. She went to school by day and DJ'd by night. That is until her equipment was stolen. When she tries to find the stolen stuff from tips given to her from a tipster she winds up at a Police function and back into the sights of Vaughn Winchester. The handsome former Marine who helped her before at the Dash when she had broken her finger. One glance at him and she knew he would be hers. Vaughn Winchester served six years in the Marines before being honorably discharged when his father died on the front lines. He has a pretty nasty past. On the verge of PTSD and waking up every night to night terrors he was recruited by Mollie's father to take care of her and make sure she was safe. Mojo ( Mollie's dad ) had a past that was not only catching up to him but was also putting Mollie and her friends in danger. Vaughn has to do everything he can to keep them safe and make sure he doesn't let his guard down but being around Mollie that is very difficult. He wants her and in a bad way but if he has her the way he wants to it can get her hurt or possibly killed. Will he be able to hide his temptations or will Mollie finally get to him and cause all of his walls to come crashing down? I absolutely loved Mollie and Vaughn. However there were a few instances where I would like to slap them both. Eden did such a great job in luring you in from the first page. This book is told from both Mollie and Vaughn's point of views. I would advise before reading this book to read the first one. It helps you better understand the characters and also how Mollie and Vaughn first met. I am so ready for book three now. less
