review 1: College age romance done rightWhat a pleasant surprise. I'd rate this a solid 4.5 star read. I tend to avoid YA and college age type books because more times than not, the characters seem to be whiny, immature, and the plots tend to focus on trivial issues as if they were major ordeals. That was not the case with this book though. The characters weren't constantly having pity parties. The character development was strong and the storyline pretty realistic and fast paced. I really appreciated how there was no insta-love, no book virgins, and the book wasn’t consumed with unnecessary meltdowns. I liked both the hero and heroine as well as the secondary characters. It made for quite an enjoyable read but I doubt this is a "series" I will personally cont... moreinue.
review 2: Chapter one starts out with our h being "attacked" (her words, not mine) by a drunk rugby player. She was out jogging, he got in her personal space and forced a kiss on her. She proceeds to drop him on the ground with a knee to the balls. She goes on quite a bit about being "sexually assaulted", so I'm outraged right along with her, thinking to myself while reading, "ok, this is a big deal, where is she going to go with this" and then NOTHING. She has a conversation with the coach where he nervously asks if she is going to report the incident and she says NO! Not because she has revised her perception of the "attack" but because she loves rugby SO much, she doesn't want to see the team hurt!!! She says, "It doesn't make sense for me to embrace the love of the game more than my own safety." No. No it doesn't. And that was really the start of a bunch of objectionable behavior all around. less
