review 1: * ARC RECEIVED BY AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW *Once again Eden Butler has me hooked from the start. Behind the Pitch is a novella in the Seeking Serenity series. I will warn you if you have not read Eden's debut novel Chasing Serenity you will not understand what is going on in this one. You go inside the hot and sexy head of Irish rugby player Declan Fraser. He gives his thoughts on events that happened in the first book and some of these thoughts are hot. You also get to go into some of his childhood. You see why Declan is the way he is. How broken he is. This novella does flip from past to present but it all runs together perfectly. All Declan Fraser wanted to do was play rugby. Make something out of himself so he could get out of the small town he lived in. What he didn... more't plan on was his arch enemy returning to town and snagging up the captain status like he hadn't left. He also didn't plan on falling head over heels for Autumn McShane. Declan and Autumn gave each other what neither of them had as a kid. Declan grew up not knowing his dad and Autumn lost her mom in an accident. What they didn't know was that their parents kept some big secrets from them. Secrets that could have changed their lives. Now these secrets are starting to surface and starting to really complicate their relationship. Declan will do anything for Autumn, anything at all to keep her his but when Autumn sees the angry side of Declan she gets scared of him. Now he has to fight to get his one true love back. Show her that she is his world. Autumn is one who hates words. You have to prove it to her, show her. But will Declan be able to show her how he truly feels or has he scared her away for good?I absolutely love Declan and Autumn. They are such strong characters. Their story will have you hooked from the start. This whole series so far is amazing. I'm not sure if I can wait for the next one to come out. I am definitely going to need a Declan fix before then.
review 2: This story moves along quickly. I like the choice to not follow the identical timeline from Chasing Serenity just from Declan’s POV. The author does a good job of choosing just a few of the major scenes to give from his perspective. This alternates between those scenes and new scenes that happened in the period between the final two chapters. It is a refreshing way to do a novella from the guy’s perspective. You need to read Chasing Serenity first or else most of this story will not make sense.Reviewed by Cathy less
