review 1: My five-year-old son picked this book out from the library last week. This book could have been about my son, his kitten Molly, and his Hop-Hop (or a sock monkey), and most of this could have taken place in our backyard, especially after a rain. The text was funny. It sounded a whole lot like a five-year-old boy. And the illustrations are adorable and spot-on perfect. Actual rating: 4.5 stars, but I round up.
review 2: In a continuation of the adventures of three friends, a boy, a toy, and a cat, first introduced in I MUST Have Bobo and I'll Save You Bobo, Willy heads off for a busy day, making sure to bring his beloved stuffed monkey, Bobo. When they arrive at the river and find a bucket, Willy figures that they can be sailors, but before he knows it, Bob... moreo's bucket has been swept into the current, and Bobo is far from shore. Willy can't use the rocks to get to Bobo, and while he goes home to get a fishing pole, Earl rescues Bobo. The pencil and digitally colored illustrations are appealing, allowing the growing annoyance of the long-suffering and under-appreciated Earl to be more visible with each passing page. When Willy fashions official explorer hats for Bobo and him, it's pretty clear that Earl has had it. less
