review 1: Agentin Lily Yu und ihr Verlobter, der Werwolfprinz Rule Turner, müssen sich wegen eines kürzlich magischen Vorkommnis vor dem Senat von Washington, D.C. verantworten. Lily erholt sich immer noch von der Verletzung. Da wird der radikal gegen Magie eingestellte Senator, der die Anhörung leitet, überraschend ermordet und Lily soll mit ermitteln. Eine Katastrophe braut sich zusammen, die nicht nur das Volk der Lupi, sondern das ganze Land bedroht.Nach den ersten 5 Seiten hatte ich das Gefühl bei Freunde zu Besuch zu sein. Eileen beschreibt ihr Figuren so realistisch das einem Vorkommt als wären Sie echt. Bei diesem Band bin ich mir nicht sicher ob das jetzt das Ende war, oder dadurch ein neuer Anfang. Viele Geheimnisse werden gelüftet, aber auch viele neue kommen. Der ... moreKrieg hat begonnen. Eine Fantasygeschichte mit Krimielement, viel Spannung und Action. Ich freue mich auf das nächte Band.
review 2: I really like this urban fantasy series. While the core of the stories are about humans and werewolves, the universe works because Wilks has developed a sophisticated magic system which forms the Newtonian physics of her universe. It provides for demons, dragons, the fey court and potentially dozens of other magical creatures seamlessly coming together in the novels. There is always a good mystery and plenty of action, and the romances—especially the maturing romances—are depicted with great skill. My only complaint, and it seriously colored this latest novel for me, is that Wilks has an aversion against letting any of her heroes be involved in a bad relationship. It’s a small thing, but I found it jarring when a rather unpleasant woman in a previous novel turned into a simperingly sweet member of the cast in this one just because she’s married to an increasingly important character. But that won’t stop me from buying the next book in the series the first day it becomes available. less
