review 1: I've enjoyed the rich world created by this author throughout the Lupi series. This book, though, pointed out to me the drawbacks of such a complicated world. The author had to spend a lot of page time explaining past happenings and the rules of magic, which made the exposition a bit hard to take all in one sitting.Rule and Lily are great protagonists. The author does such a good job developing their relationship throughout the series that the end of this one was satisfying all by itself. Rule's otherness in particular is very well done, imo.That said, I can't help but be frustrated by the fact that the Big B seems un-defeatable. A defensive war is exhausting and not very satisfying, especially when the villain keeps escaping to wreak havoc another... more day.
review 2: Definitely my favorite Urban Fantasy series...love the characters and how they are consistent, the relationships and interactions. The suspense and action are always amazing. This story is no exception. As Lily and Rule get closer to their wedding day, they are plagued not only by the GB but another unknown entity. All Hell breaks loose in San Diego!! Fantastic...and still much more to come... less
