review 1: We were listening to this one on CD on a road trip and finally gave up when it turned out everyone was either (1) mocking it, or (2) falling asleep. Two main problems: the book needed severe editing down, and the narrator had a way of reading certain chapters as if they were epic (my 15YO's criticism) when the rest of us couldn't even figure out why they were in the book bc they weren't moving the plot forward. Maybe it all came together later, but we couldn't hang in that long.
review 2: A lonely boy and an adventurous beetle strike up an unlikely friendship in this heartwarming story! From the beginning I knew that Marvin the beetle was going to be an unforgettable little character and upon finishing the story I wasn't disappointed! There is adventure, suspen... morese, mystery, and most importantly friendship in this awesome story that I cannot wait to use as a read aloud in my class next year! less
