review 1: Spoilers ahead!! I really liked this book, until the end. I probably would have given it 4 stars, except for the end. So, everything was tying itself up, like a regular novel without a sequence, but suddenly, JEFF FINDS HER???? in the epilogue...? It just didn't fit, everything was done except for that mainly. I think this book would have been 10 times better if the author had closed everything off at the end, keeping what she had, taking out the epilogue and tying a few extra loose ends, like the Diana story. I heard this was a trilogy, it doesn't work. So, I wouldn't recommend this book to anybody because of that horrible ending. Otherwise, I liked the story. I usually don't love fantasy/sci fiction too much, like people with powers, but I liked this combo of attempted ... moremurder (or what is believed to be!! :) ), romance, horrible family mysteries (Hayley, Derric, Dennis, Becca), and mental powers. I really just feel the end ruined it all...I won't be reading the sequel, though I half wish I could know how it ends up, but I really don't feel the sequel ought to be read so...
review 2: This is not going to be pretty. This book was all kinds of boring, after about page 150 I started skimming just because I wanted to see how she would end it. And let me tell you, the ending was extremely uneventful. All this build up, for just...nothing. And the whole supernatural aspect barely made an appearance. It was like she added those 20 sentences about hearing whispers just to draw in fans of the supernatural genre. no no no. less
