review 1: Royston and his sister were separated and sent to foster homes after the death of their parents. Many years later they find each other and to show his sister that he is living a happy life he concocts a story of being engaged. He then has an employee (Miranda) pretend to be his fiancee. They spend the weekend in the country with his sister and her husband. By Monday morning they're madly in love and can't live without each other. Now they're engaged for real. The end.For many years Royston have thought his sister to be dead. And from reading "The Prince's Resistant Lover" I get that there was a strong bond between the siblings. However, now having considerable resources Royston never seeked to confirm his sister's death (getting death certificate, her grave site, etc). ... moreAdditionally, such intense feelings of love does not develop over a weekend. very far fetched. After reading a few of her books, I find this author's writing to be greatly lacking. Are all her heroines virgins?
review 2: Bottomline is the story bordered on unbelievable but so funny and sweet I couldn't help but love it.Story starts out with Roystons long lost sister, he thought was dead, show up in his office revealing that not only is she alive but married and expecting her first child. All she wants is for him to be happy so he lies and says he is happy and about to be married.Enter plot: Royston not only has to find a women to be fiancee before dinner tonight but figure out how to be happy. I actually busted out laughing on the line he says,"How the hell does one become happy?" or something like that. Then we meet Miranda who gets dumbed the job of dropping off reports late to the "Head Jerk" who runs his company with an iron fist. This turns out to be a lucky break for both of them and thus beginning their fake relationship. Miranda and Royston's 'engagement' and weekend together draws them closer and that thin line between pretending to be in love and falling in love is put to the test.I could rehash the story somemore but really it was a great quick read that had me laughing and aweeing at parts. Loved Wyndi and Miranda's quick friendship and of course Miranda and Roystons interactions. I believe I got this as a freebie from Amazon. Might have gotten it during free ebook day but honestly I have so much to read loaded on my Kindle I forget. Anyway it was a great quick quarky read I really enjoyed. less
