Royal Blood Chronicles
review 1: Katrina, the Beginning book one, chronicles the story of Katrina from the age of seventeen in the series - Royal Blood Chronicles - it's full of romance, friendship, adventure and betrayal in a fast paced, fun read. It's filled with strong female characters in a lush, beautifully drawn fantasy world built and wonderfully written by Elizabeth Loraine.Elizabeth Loraine’s Royal Blood Chronicle series has a developing plot that digs deeper with each additional novel, and her creativity in the design of her characters is astounding. Whether her characters are vampires, humans, wizards or demons, there is always an unexpected plot twist to surprise the reader. The Protectors’ fight to maintain control of the upper world is challenged by unforeseen characters and circumstances... more throughout the series. There are many authors in the fantasy genre, but Elizabeth Loraine is one of the best. She veers away from the usual supernatural storyline to produce works of remarkable interest to lovers of this genre. Cain is a prime example of her creative mind; he is a thread-climber that is unaware of his full potential as a powerful, magical vampire. Although he has a rather rough beginning, once everything has been righted, Cain becomes a leader no one could hate. His selfless acts and teaching ability are superb and give the reader an insight to his destiny. The same holds true for the other major characters of this series; their intertwined destinies leave the reader wanting more.I applaud Loraine’s creative genius. She takes the myths of old and refurbishes them with pizzazz. I enjoyed reading Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight Saga, but I absolutely love Loraine’s Royal Blood Chronicle. Loraine’s plot is much better, and her story lines are more interesting. Bella’s relationship with Edward is lame compared to the love of Katrina and Quinn, two more protagonists of this series. For fans of the fantasy genre, this series is necessary read.I have read hundreds of fantasy novels, and Royal Blood Chronicle ranks in the top five. I recommend this series for anyone that loves unexpected twists, great friendships, and terrific story lines.GR: Karen Bryant Thompson
review 2: I absolutely love paranormal reads! Now give one (YA or otherwise) that has various original aspects (and handsome male characters) to it and I’m hooked. This is the first book in The Royal Blood Chronicles series (it takes place in the 1800's) and I have a good feeling it will get better and better as the series goes on. There are great characters with individuality, charm and realism. It’s full of adventure, suspense, surprises and a touch of romance (of the vampire kind). Teens as well as adults will enjoy this original paranormal read.Kat and her father have a group of seven brothers called Watchers that have served them loyally for years. Kat suddenly has an intense interest in one brother Quinn. Unsure yet comfortable with the feelings; they both choose to pursue one another and Quinn gives up his position as Kat’s Watcher (for a relationship is not allowed between a Watcher and their charge). During a trip/stay while a new High Regent was being chosen and another stepping down, Kat meets Damian and becomes confused at the feelings he ignites within her. Taking the advice of some newly found friends after she shared her dilemma, she discovers that one she has feelings for is true while the other is nothing other than bloodlust. It's a wonderful thing to watch Kat mature on the pages. At 18 years old, she shows true promise of a leader and has very little that she fears.Kat and her companions make various discoveries and save many lives. Shock, surprise and deceit are overcome by all. Now they are on a mission to save all of their kind and the world from one evil female’s cruel clutches. If anyone can complete the task and save the world, Kat and her crew are definitely the ones to do it!I look forward to the next in the series and what else will unfold and reveal itself in Kat’s (and her companions) life. less
