review 1: This serial series (not sure that what they are called!!) is part one of a four part series. I can honestly say that Hansel has caught my attention right from the Prologue. I always find it refreshing when I come across an origional story. Seeing as I read so much, it is becoming harder to find unique stories; but so far this one is definitely one I have never come across before. This is a story about a man and a woman who at one time were held captive in "The House" and their kidnapper was a woman who called herself; Mother. (as in Mother Goose!) There were other kids in the house as well, but so far this is just "Hansel and Gretal's" story. I don't want to give too much away; but basically we get glimpses of the past when they were held captive, and then we have the prese... morent which is very interesting indeed. Let's just say that Leah aka Gretal; ends up in Vegas with her sisters. They are celebrating one of her sisters getting married. Where do they go in Vegas?? Why, a sex club of course!!! LOL This sex club though reminds Leah of a time in her past that she would much rather forget. She ends up having a huge anxiety attacks considering the club looks like a replica of where she was held captive ten years earlier. To find out why, I would urge you to read the book!!! Believe me though, it will keep you reading, wanting answers, and with each new question that comes up; you will crave even more answers! This is a fast read, and I am eager to move onto the second installment. I am glad that I was patient and waited until all four stories were out before I started this. So, moving right along..I need to crack open book two, and find out more about the "fairytale" lives of Hansel and Gretal!!!
review 2: Ella James delivers yet again with a twisted version of her own take on Hansel & Gretel. But this isn’t the fairy tale you remember from your childhood. Hansel is told with a series of present day moments mixed in with flashbacks. Moments that show a young girl being taken, held captive by a woman that collected children as fairy tale characters. The girl that went by Leah, turned into Gretel – living as a broken woman who never stopped looking for her Hansel.Hansel is all grown now. Now he goes by Edgar, owner of the sex club, famous Dom. The man that needs pain to find his pleasure... the man that still needs his Leah, even if he refuses to find her. The first in this series leaves you with a million questions. You want to know how all of this unfolded. How these kids were taken, what happened to Hansel. To Mother. But more than anything you want to know if Leah can reach beyond the persona of Edgar, past Hansel the boy she held hands with through the wall, eventually leading her to Luke the man that lurks beneath, buried in years of pain.I was confused as to what was happening, but I couldn’t look away. The way Ella tells this story made you crazy. Wanting to know everything that happened to them – and wanting it all now. And the hotness level of this series is well beyond what we’ve seen from her so far. What a way to start of this series. I am completely hooked. less

Hmmmm, it was OK. Way to short in my opinion to capture a reader'a interest.
