review 1: really wish I could say that this book was better than Afterlight, but it wasn’t. All of the things I disliked about the first book were in Everdark as well, only worse. For starters, I think this book totally ruined whatever spark Eli and Riley had in the first book. All I get from these two is sex, her thinking about how hot he is, and him being possessive of her. Now I don’t mind a little possessiveness in a man, but with Eli, it’s too much. And he (along with a couple of other characters), kept getting mad at Riley over just about everything. Of course, at times, he had a right to get upset, but most of the time, it was just plain ridiculous. He should’ve found a less stubborn and more submissive woman if he wanted a damsel in distress kind of girl because Rile... morey isn’t that.Another thing that bothered me was the mind reading. It bugs me that despite Riley telling Eli and his family to stay out of her head, they continue to disregard what she wants and keep delving into her mind. And they do it so often, I don’t see the point in carrying on a conversation. The dialogue and continues to awkward at times, and in this book, pretty repetitive, but that only bothered me somewhat. One good addition to the book is Noah. A hot and cocky vampire who not only allows Riley to be an independent woman, but actually enjoys watching her defend herself. A couple of times, I thought Riley should leave Eli for him. Victorian is another character I liked. I honestly don’t know why, but I find him interesting.Despite the flaws in this book, I’m still looking forward to the next one. I still see potential in this series and I really hope Elle Jasper can wow me with Eventide
review 2: Tattoo artist Riley was attacked by vampires Valerian and Victorian Arcos at the end of the first book. Their venom has changed her DNA and increased her new supernatural tendencies. There is lots of steamy sex with hunky Eli but it starts to get a little redundant. I enjoy the Savannah and Charleston settings, the Gullah people and the Dupre family. I found Riley to be rather irritating in this book. I wanted to shake her and tell her to share her dreams with Eli. Just an OK read for me. less

So far so good. I like to see the development of Riley and the relationship between her and Eli.

A great read. Supernatural world with some romance and tattoos. Can't go wrong with that. :)
