Wine Country Mysteries
review 1: #5 in the Wine Country Mysteries. Lucie spends most of her time away from the vineyard to this entry's detriment. A friend in her freshman year at college has ignored Lucie in the 12 years since but Lucie comes to Washington when requested; accosted by an obnoxious drunk in her hotel lobby and rescued by the concierge, she comes when the drunk calls her the next day; and, introduced by the drunk to a stuffy congressional staffer, she travels to a clandestine meeting with said staffer when summoned. This is a woman hard up for a plot. Her siblings are absent, her cousin is in love with a major suspect and her winemaker shuttles between her bed and distant. An additional quibble is that dependence on a spellchecker has a worn tred on the stairs in the Library of Congress. On... morely worth reading for the War of 1812 trivia and because it's the penultimate book in the series.Wine Country mystery - When Lucie Montgomery visits Washington, D.C., she doesn't expect her reunion with old friend Rebecca Natale is a setup. But Rebecca disappears into thin air after running an errand for her boss, billionaire philanthropist and investment guru Sir Thomas Asher. Also missing: an antique silver wine cooler looted by British soldiers before they burned the White House during the War of 1812.
review 2: This was my favorite book so far from this series. The mystery was slightly more believe able than some of the other stories, and I enjoyed the "tour" of DC historical sites. It was also a good mix between the wine, mystery and Lucy's personal life. Some of the stories felt more like the mystery was thrown in to keep the series in the mystery section. Also, because she was involved by the affects parties, it didn't feel strange that Lucy was involved in solving the story. I liked it so much, I got the next one when I returned this to the library. Hopefully it's just as good! less

My only comment is that this is the most tortured effort of a title I think I've ever read.
