review 1: This book was well written, the characters were extremely realistic and I enjoyed reading it. But this is not a fantasy book. It hints that there might be something fantastical around the corner and sometimes it seems there is something coing, but it always turns out to be based very much in reality. It might be a bit too real for some children so I recommend adults read this before their kids do so that you can gauge if your children is going to enjoy it. Because if they pick it up looking for magical adventures and fantastical creatures your kids might be disappointed sadly. I say sadly because, like I said, the book is very well written.

... moreet I cried upon the fact that the Sultan was their mother. I can relate to this book very much. I see a bit of myself in every character, I see a bit of my life laced in the plot. What I adore most in this quaint novel are the plot twists, the many glorious plot twists. It's been quite a while since a I read a book with such a plot twist, the last one being the Harry Potter series--which is quite a while ago. The humor is dark and witty, reminding you that there is an adventure if you try for it. less
