Flash Point
review 1: "Spilling Ink" by Anne Mazer and Ellen Potter is about a young girl teaching the reader how to write. The young girl is supposed to portray Anne Mazer as a child and how she lived her life. The main theme of this book is how to write. One lesson that this book teaches is how to improve your writing by using various techniques. One of these is criticism, like how to take criticism and how to differ between good criticism and bad criticism. Another lesson is how to overcome difficulties while writing like writer’s block. A problem with “Spilling Ink” is the writing style. The author writing about herself writing is confusing because she writes about herself improving her writing to the style in the book. Another confusing part is that there are to authors with two wri... moreting styles that switch back and forth. This novel is very different than other novels. Instead of a consistency normally found in books, this book changes all the time. It changes from normal writing to lists to bullet points to conversations. A new subject is found on every page about a different part of writing.I recommend this book for good readers that want to become good writers.
review 2: This instructional handbook offers students the guidance they need to get them writing "like the experts."Curriculum Connection: Writing, InstructionalThis is a book I would have loved to have had as a younger student. I was always drawn to (and clearly still am) instructional type books like this that are organized in such a way they can be used as a future reference for writing techniques. It is filled with valuable information that can be referred back to for years as the child grows as a writer. It can be the tool that students need to unlock the magic of writing.
