review 1: To be honest, during the first half of the book I could already imagine my awful review on Goodreads. I kept reading though, and it got better (but not by much). However, I still think there were a huge number of flaws in it. The third person perspective was very confusing, and most of the time I had to reread each sentence until I got it. Also, the characters just seem so fake to me. It's as if Ryan, the guy of her dreams, just magically falls into her arms. And, the school is very confusing too. Who exactly is Coach, and why does he teach lab? And what is up with the school's obsession with drills? Not to mention, it seems like there are about 20 people in their school, because how else would the exact same people be involved in everything? Cassie implies that Ryan is s... moreome unattainable guy, and the next thing you know, he's sitting at her lunch table. WHAT? This is just seriously wacko. I can go on and on with more flaws, but I choose to end here. Everyone loves a happy ending, but all this just kinda took the satisfaction away from me. The concept and my utter sucker-ness for a happy ending are the sole reason for the 2 stars.
review 2: I think the author was cool at making her own standards when it comes to writing. She pleases no one and writes what she likes to write. I can feel that attitude and I like it in a good kind of way. She really sticked to the title and didn't go further beyond the topic. But, for some I think they'll find it fast-phased and anti-suspense. What I don't like about the story is it's lack of written emotions, as well as supporting details and adjectives. I don't have a clue what the characters look like. Nevertheless, this will be a click for YA readers, that I am sure. less
