review 1: The illustrations in this book are delightfully dreamy and the story propels you into a nighttime dreamland. Exploring the journey taken by each dream animal in turn, Martin reveals a world full of whimsy and wonder that enchants readers through the power of rhyme. I was captivated by the drawings of otherworldly landscapes and the sense of magic evoked by this beautiful tale. My favourite scene takes place at the end, which depicts a girl taking a brush to paint the stars while her fellow creature friends take to polishing the sleeping moon. A wonderful read for all those who love to dream and wish upon the stars before closing their eyes.
review 2: This was a Hanukkah gift to my daughter, purchased on a whim by her grandfather. I immediately fell in love. It'... mores one of the most beautiful books I've seen--not just in terms of the illustrations (which are amazing and have a classic feel) but also in terms of message. A lot of bedtime books feel a bit schmaltzy to me, but this one really captures the magic of dreams. I like how it feels full of possibilities and how it presents bedtime as a time of wonder. less
