review 1: Imagine slowly starting to believe your routine life really isn't yours and following up on the suspicion only to find ambiguity and more questions. Worse, no one believes you. Its the night mare marriage and unsettling. The writing was very good and as the reader, I was sucked into the main character's terrible problem. She can't live with the endless suspicions, what she suspects and no real answers. Nothing backs up her suspicions. I'm not sure I agree with the ending, but I certainly understood it. And I'll admit, this is one I'm going to read again because it was also very subtle and left me with questions.
review 2: Marta Bjornstad is a good wife and a loving mother. She lives according to the tenets of a manual gifted to her by her mother-in-law
... moreentitled How To Be A Good Wife. Lately however, she has started experiencing lapses in memory and has begun seeing and interacting with a young girl in white pajamas. Is Marta descending into madness or is she recalling long suppressed memories? I was instantly caught up in How To Be A Good Wife by Emma Chapman. It is a short read that moves very quickly. In the beginning, nothing seemed to make much sense. It was almost as if I was inside Marta's brain and was just as confused as she was. As the story progressed, things started to become clear and I couldn't reach the end fast enough. Unfortunately, not only did I not like the ending, but I felt very let down by it. I tend to prefer endings that wrap everything up and leave no loose ends and with this book, I felt like I was left with more questions than answers. Overall, I found the book to be an interesting, well-written read; but ultimately, an unsatisfying one. less

I liked the book. I was hoping for a better ending than how it ended.
