review 1: I skipped a few sections of this book, specifically ones that focused on things such as inventory management, or working with industrial suppliers and manufacturers, because those sort of things weren't relevant to the business I intend to start. The rest of the book is well written and insightful. The margins are littered with inspirational quotes from historical entrepreneurs, which pushed me to read the book even faster. All of the lessons were well crafted. The "callout boxes" to very specific things, or for examples, really drew my attention in and made me focus on the fact sheets, or the little anecdotes from other entrepreneurs. The section on branding was top notch. It made me reconsider a lot of things I was thinking of doing. The section on writing your business pla... moren was much more in-depth than the previous book I read on the topic. The section on taxes and the various forms of corporations/partnerships was fantastic. Although I know I'll have to consult an accountant, I now have a functioning vocabulary and baseline of knowledge in the area, and can articulate my thoughts on the topic better.Similarly, the legal section was very informative. Not sure what else to say about this. This book got me thinking like the head of a company instead of just a guy with an idea.
review 2: A reference book to return to over and over during the process of starting your business, or thinking of starting one. Good, basic, solid and covers nearly all you need to know of the general aspects of start-up, from experts at start-ups and business writing. I read, and re-read, this book over the course of 10 months of start-up work for my own business. And I might go back and pick a few nuggets out again as I need them. Since I got a steal of a deal on this as a Kindle book, it's been a must-have. Don't overpay for this- but do put it in your start-up arsenal. less
