review 1: The illustrations tend towards lots of blues, greens, and oranges but are clear and it is easy to differentiate the various characters. There is enough backstory for a reader to understand the action without having read the first of the series. Those who have read the text version will likely find this a bit too brief for their liking. However, it may tempt some into reading the text version if they haven't.

However this one is different from the others as it is the graphic novel version rather than the traditional version. I would use this book in the classroom as an interesting and different alternative to pr... moreesent to my students who are interested in reading the Artemis Fowl Series, yet find it to be too difficult for them to read. These kind of books are especially popular with the male students as they have plenty of action, they possess a whimsical, fantasy aspect to them, and the students find Artemis easy to relate to as he is near their own age. As a follow-up activity, I would have my students draw a favorite story of theirs into a graphic novel and give it to a friend. Doing this would show the students that any story can become a graphic novel and could also interest other students in graphic novels. less
