review 1: Another great edition to the Pete the Cat series. In this story Pete the cat has gotten a new sweater that he loves dearly, especially his groovy buttons but something unexpectedly happens Pete on his way home. This is a great story to read with small children, this book contains repetition and short sentences that can help with any new or struggling readers. I would use this for a think-aloud for some children or as a book for my students to practice their reading.
review 2: I thought I was going to hate this one due to its "Jazz feel", but my 3 year old adopted it as one of his favorites, and now we all love it! You kind of get a lyrical beat when reading aloud, and the saggy-eyed cat grows on you! My son had the book memorized by the second reading, but we... more still read it several times a day for the next couple of weeks. "Did he cry? Goodness no! Buttons come, and buttons go." has become a regular saying around this house. less
