review 1: The strange and intoxicating narrative of this book started out appealingly delicious. But by about half way through, it became cloying. A little into the third quarter of the book I kept praying for the story to end, like the never ending song of a two year old child. I had a good mind to just abandon it all together but I thought something interesting just might happen around the corner, but....nothing.
review 2: This book was extremely depressing, but really made me think. Each of the characters was unique, and at several points in the novel I hated each of them...but I liked that I hated them; it made them more real (if that makes any sense at all).
