review 1: This is the third or fourth Erin Healy book I've read and had it been my first I would most likely not be reading more. It took me forever to figure out what her two story lines had to do with each other and it was so bizarre I wasn't sure I was interested in continuing but I had invested enough time I hoped I would turn a corner. An autistic young man, a young woman with CF, a witch like artist and her strange son, and a promise of the supernatural power of everlasting life are the basis of this book. I was disappointed in the ending regarding Chase and it was just too bizarre to enjoy it much.
review 2: Undecided between 3 or 4 stars. It has a good message, but definitely difficult to read! I had to put it down several times and read something else and the... moren pick it up again. Search for immortality...sounds intriguing but who really would want to be immortal on this earth? Promise is dying of CF and after some unexplained 'accidents' where she walks away alive Porta, the new 'witch' in the area thinks Promise is immortal. The author has actually written w/ Ted Dekker so I expected a supernatural tale mixed in w/ Biblical truths and thats what you get. less
