review 1: A book with a lot of potential in a vast world filled with fantasy and a writer who knows how to pace the story and keep you interested. The reason I couldnt give it anymore stars was I felt it was very raw, there was some repetitive language, events that I felt needed further explanation and others that seemed to come out of nowhere just for the sake of jumping to the next plot point for example the 'blood plague'. Overall a good book that I feel can become great as the series progresses.
review 2: I finished this book last night and I kept going, "huh?" It had such promise and never delivered. The review from Rae on Oct. 13th pretty much sums up everything I was going to put here, so I won't repeat it. I never even understood why they were doing what they wer... moree doing. There was no sense of urgency, no real danger. It's really just a hot mess. I did finish it, so it was readable, but well...the cover is pretty. less
