review 1: Wild and wonton Joe Spencer has lost his best friend to another man. In an effort to get her back, Joe heads to the small farming town of Sapphire Falls.Phoebe Sherwood needs a plan to get her best friend and love, Matt, back from his soon-to-be fiancé, Nadia. Enter sexy city boy Joe Spencer. After learning the reason for the hot new boy’s arrival, Phoebe seizes her opportunity. All she has to do is convince Joe that two are better than one. Working together, they have better odds of breaking up the soon-to-be affianced and getting back their soon-to-be other half. Easy enough, right? Joe soon realizes it is not going to be as easy as he thought. Merely saying I love you isn’t going to bring Nadia running back to him. She loves Sapphire Falls and its simple, laidback ... moreways. He must ditch his high-rolling city-boy ways if he is to fit in with this moonshine-drinking crowd. Who better to teach him this than Sapphire Falls’s hometown girl Phoebe Sherwood? But what happens when Joe sheds his chinos and suit jacket for blue jeans and T-shirt, which just so happens to fit perfectly snug across his athletic chest? Will he change enough to get Nadia back, or will he get distracted along the way?I only had one minor quibble with Getting Worked Up. Unlike Adrianne and Mason (from Getting Out of Hand, Sapphire Falls book 1) who had a totally hot inta-lust connection, I felt Joe fell for Phoebe a too quickly. He came to town to win back his best friend (even though he does not love her) but he is taken by Phoebe the minute he sees her. It all seemed a bit sudden for me. However, I was able to get past that rather quickly and devour every morsel of the story.Once again, Erin Nicholas had me wishing I lived in Sapphire Falls and was best friends with the characters; both are just so much fun! Living in a small town myself, I know how gossip spreads, how everyone knows everyone, and the importance of the annual festival. Shoot, I have a friend who I swear is related to half of the town, just like Phoebe. Nicholas paints such a real and vibrant picture of small-town life it is almost as if I can picture my small town being Sapphire Falls (minus all the hot men). Getting Worked Up was a book I wanted to reread as soon as I finished because the minute I turned the last page, I felt bereft of my friends, my town, and Phoebe and Joe.If you are looking for a story with remarkable—and hot as hell—characters, a story that will make your pulse beat a bit faster, a setting that is a character itself, or simply a pleasurable read you won’t want to put down, then I invite you to visit Sapphire Falls.*FTC Disclaimer: Review copy provided by author
review 2: Getting Worked Up brings us back to Erin Nicholas's Sapphire Falls, a charming little town that tends to win the hearts of everyone who visits.Joe Spencer's in town to win back the heart of his best friend, his almost fiancee, the one he was supposed to marry. But she seems to have fallen for some hometown hero, and that cannot stand. Not when Joe's ready to sweep her off her feet and settle down, once and for all.Phoebe Sherwood's best friend is in love. Too bad it isn't with Phoebe! Now that Joe's in town, she can help Joe win back his honey AND turn Matt's attention back to Phoebe, where it belongs. If only Joe wasn't so... intriguing.Erin Nicholas does it again in book two of her Sapphire Falls series--warm and fun and delicious, Getting Worked Up is a page-turner in the very best way. Great characters, incredible setting, Getting Worked Up has it all, and I cannot wait for MORE.06/28/14 less
