review 1: The Artisan Soul by Erwin Raphael McMans is about Erwin McManus who is a founder of Mosaic. Mosaic is a community of faith in Los Angeles, California. Erwin has traveled the world and has spoke to tons of people. The book is about "Crafting your life into a work of art." The Artisan Soul is a very inspirational book, it makes you look/think of the world differently. I chose this book because I was at Church a couple weeks ago and Erwin came to visit my church (Mosaic) which is in San Diego, CA. There was a bunch of loud distracting noises in the background of the Church so it was kind of hard to hear our pastor introduce Mr. McManus. As soon as Erwin started talking, the crowd went silent. I couldn't even hear the loud music or people outside of the church, my mind focused... more completely on Erwin. He is such an inspiration to me, he made think about the past, future and even present. Erwin McManus was mainly the only character in the book. He talked about how there's so much out there in the world and you just have to open your eyes. If you set your mind to something to something anything is possible. My favorite part of the book was when Erwin was talking about the animals and how they every animal has a different job. They have to follow there jobs at all times. You're not going to see a otter live in the ocean. Erwin talks about how when people are born they pretty much follow after there parents. He wants us to follow after our hearts and do what we wants to do.
review 2: I liked that the author approached creativity from a spiritual perspective (although a bit too much from a religious point of view) and wrote this book with the intention to inspire as opposed to sharing a program on how to live a creative life. BUT, I would have to agree with others that the excessive amount of supporting each concept with scriptures from the bible and religious references was a big turn-off (I would have given the book 3 stars otherwise). If seeing the word God every few pages is enough to turn you away then save your time, but if you are religious then you might just love this book. less

I love a good quote, but I skipped through most of the religious references.
