review 1: Though I knew exactly where the book was going when I picked it up (the big bouquet on the front cover made it pretty obvious – although I couldn’t quite figure out where Elvis fit into the picture….) the journey was still delightful and fun along the way. I laughed and scratched my head in several places as I was reading. I don’t even want to think about how geese could have begun to end up in a romantic marriage proposal. And Hershey bars down the aisle? Yeah. Erynn Mangum definitely hits the top of my delightfully creative and crazy list. Love reading the situations into which she completely submerges her characters and I also enjoy watching as they dig their way out of said situations.Parts of the book felt rushed and a few of the situations had me scratching m... morey head with more confusion than delight. I enjoyed the book, but I felt like it raced around a bit and seemed to get lost between the first and last sentences. It felt as if Erynn knew where she wanted the book to end, but she wasn’t sure how she wanted to get there. And in a couple of places, it felt like some of the situations were too contrived to be fun.But none of this diminished the pleasure I had in reading how Lauren Holbrook’s story ended up with a diamond, a bouquet and Elvis. I love Mangum’s dialogue, crazy plot twists and the characters. These books are a delight and they’re fantastic reading for anyone from teens to adults. (Even my pre-teen daughter was laughing and enjoying some of the book as I read it aloud.)Mangum is definitely a writer to watch for the future. If she continues on her path, she could rival Sophie Kinsella or Meg Cabot for fantastic chick lit.** Review copy provided by NavPress. (Thank you Kris!)
review 2: I went back and read the whole book because hoestly I hatted to leave the chacaters I loved so much hanging, the whole thing wasn't any better the the intro it was terrible or anything but one: *SPOILAR ALART* I really really wanted Laurie to get with Brandon and she gets with Ryan and that was VERY disappointing to me because I had just been waiting on how the author was going to get them together, but they don't so all the lovey stuff between Brandon and Hannah was sickaning. *END SPOILAR ALART* The other thing that bothered me was that there was some very very minor causeing that had (to my knowlage) not been in the previas two books and it was very annoying. Also Lauire's friends seem to take over her life in this book, wholey and completly, telling her how to act, dress, whom she should like and what she should do I and hate that. Laurie was the kind of character in the first book that would not let herself be walked over yet she is in this book. She wants to do one thing all her friends say no and she has no choice in the matter, Its her life, she needed to make desicions that would last a lifetime but she didn't, everyone else did. Another thing, at one point after they're ingaged Laurie says she and the guy will never be romantic which goes aganst all the rest of the book and since she wanted romance she should have gone with someone else. Lauire is never sure of her own feelings, I don't think she should have gotten married if she wasn't sure about him.The characters were WAY to sarcastic twards eachother to the point of being annoying and this book really didn't posses the halarias lines the first two did. The only thing I did like was that Laurie is constantly complaining about the food at her house and the scicatress they bring on as a photagerpher. That part it halarias. Over all I was VERY dissapointed with this book, espeshally since the first book was SO amazing. The ending of this seres has made me very heasatant about reading any of Erynn Mangum's other books. less
