review 1: I am not sure if it is the translation, but the writing is not at all wonderful; perhaps better suited as a young adult fiction for 10-16 year olds. The first chapter - supposedly being the most pivotal - was poorly written and seemed incredibly unrealistic [Mick Jagger?]. There are also moments within the book that seemed wrong; for instance, when Kati finds out that a murder took place and waits all day at the hotel and nearby cafe for Petra, only to return back to the book store with two pieces of toast to find Petra there, Petra stands and yells "where have you been" before Kati bites into the toast? Why would anyone eat at such a moment? Something like "she dropped the keys and food on the floor and rushed over to Petra" would have seemed more logical. I have a bit of... more an inkling that the translation was really bad, but the sequences of events were so poorly done that I might be wrong. I give it two stars only because I hope for better from the author in the future.
review 2: Scorrevole e a tratti piacevole, ma l'ho trovato ingenuo. Sebbene non sia un'esperta del genere noir, come viene presentato dalla scritta in rosso sulla copertina, non ho trovato molto, per non dire nulla. L'assolata Instanbul, la briosa voce narrante della protagonista e la scarsa descrizione delle atmosfere, non mi hanno fatto percepire nulla di noir. Neanche di gialli sono esperta ma tutto fila troppo liscio. Mafiosi che si palesano in prima persona a parlare con lei e che la invitano a casa a parlare con i parenti, agganci scontati, ecc. Insomma, si lascia leggere ma niente di che. less
