review 1: While the book started reasonably slow, it progressed into being quite a captivating book. Part of the reason I liked it so much was the way that it defied my predictions about how the book went (that being said, I would not have minded at all if it went as I thought that it would have, with regards to Thutmose and Nefertiti's relationship). In some ways, I would have liked it to have been more predictable to what I expected, but I did love Friesner's vision all the same
review 2: I really enjoyed this book! It started with Nefertiti at age 4. We learned about her family life, especially her relationship with her father. When she got older, her Aunt Tiye, the Great Royal Wife takes her to live in the palace because of her beauty and intelligence. Later, Neferti
... moreti found out that she is being groomed to be the wife of her Aunt's eldest son, Prince Thulmose, heir to the throne, a cruel and hateful young man. What will happen next to our dear Nefertiti? I loved that this book was suspenseful. The palace was full of secrets waiting to be revealed and it ended with a cliffhanger. I'm definitely reading the next book. Enjoyable! less
