Seeing Hands is an indie outfit that follows the time-tested book of indie guitarplaying, in that the band excels at jangly riffs that reverberate to create spacious blankets of sound. Even with that description out of the way, new single Take Me Back takes the sound to a new level.
The new single crashes in with waves of nostalgia, which are complemented with airy indie pop guitar riffs that carry a retro 80s-indie vibe. Despite this, the track is distinctly modern in its deliveries, with each slow vocal and mid-tempo guitar note making this feel like a step forward from nugaze rather than an indie throwback.
It’s a more slowed down and chilled out number than we’re traditionally used to from the band, but it’s a welcome move forward. Alongside previous single Love You Still, the band is building a strong and balanced arsenal of indie-pop weaponry.
