review 1: What a lovely, whimsical book. Until you look, really look. A colony of fairy creatures flee their dying home and takes up residence in the woods. What follows is a Lewis Carroll interpretation of Lord of the Flies in watercolor.There were a couple parts of this that hurt my heart. It's obviously an allegory of the journey through life and death with the wrenching truisms that contains. One that will stick with me, I'm adding it to my "must own" list.
review 2: This was grisly, and was even more disturbing because of the adorable characters. It did have an Alice in wonderland feeling, although much darker. It reminds me of the Walrus and the Oyster story that gave me so many nightmares. The story has elements of a fairytale but instead of happy ever after, e... moreach plot thread ends in horror. I would really only suggest this book to a small and specific audience. less
