review 1: I learned so much from this fast-paced vividly told memoir of an Afghan boy fleeing persecution. It demonstrated the perseverance of children through overwhelming challenges. I gained insight into the ethnic conflicts in Afghanistan, the struggles of illegal immigrants in Iran and Europe and the process for gaining asylum in Europe. I would like to buy this book for my high school classroom because students who have experienced war, immigration and parental loss would all connect with this book. I would use it as a mentor text for exploring narration styles (sometimes the writer’s voice interrupts and dialogues with the storyteller in the present) and the process of editing memoirs (the storyteller comments on why he includes some memories and not ot... morehers)
review 2: Questo è uno di quei libri che vorresti fosse solo un romanzo e invece no, è la storia vera di Enaiatollah, un ragazzo come tanti altri, nato in Afghanistan e arrivato in Italia dopo un lungo viaggio, non senza difficoltà, è dovuto crescere di corsa già dall'età di 10 anni (forse) e ha dovuto sempre guardare avanti fin quando non ha trovato il suo posto e la sua vita.Una storia dura, ma scritta in un modo piacevole se così può esser definita. less
