review 1: Um. So. I'm not really sure what happened here. But it was either post-apocalyptic, time travel, alternate universe, drug-induced fantasy, post-traumatic delusions, or the ramblings/memories of a 35 year old government worker fearing his mid-life crisis. Again, I'm not sure. What I AM sure of is that The Wrenchies is a piece of art filled with violent but oh-so-cool images and a plot that gets the brain whirring. I'm happy to add this to my library's graphic novel collection, but it's a nope for Gateway. Note: lots of f bombs in this one, but they are appropriate to the tone of the story.
review 2: When two boys venture into a cave, they have no idea what powers they've unleashed as they end up doing battle with all sorts of evil beings. Siblings Sherwood Pr
... moreesley Breadcoat and Orson Breadcoat find an amulet, and their lives are changed in monumental ways. As the result of Sherwood's actions, the world is turned upside down, and life in the post-Apocalyptic period is very, very grim. The only ones with any chance of survival are children who still hope for more than what they see around them as they try to avoid the Shadowsmen who come to take them away. The illustrations are stunning and filled with incredibly detailed images and rich colors, the story is highly original and disturbing on many fronts, and the author's vision of the future is downright frightening. Because there are several stories woven into other stories, readers will want to read this one more than once. Otherwise some of the transitions and shifts in time are so abrupt as to be emotionally jarring. Several times I caught myself going, "What? Wait? What just happened? Where'd those characters go?" This one needs time for processing. less

Beautiful illustrations but I'm still a little unclear on what actually happened?

Cool visuals, but the story is way too much all over the place.
