review 1: Although I liked the twist at the end it was very obvious it was coming. The story was very badly put together. It was repetitive and dragged out, in some parts the descriptions were so long and boring that it just became pointless/emotionless. I know it was set in 1950's Britain but the language was extremely old fashioned which made it quite awkward to read. I wouldn't recommend this book at all. Not impressed.
review 2: I had to read this twice to fully understand what was happening. It didn't hold me in suspense as I had hoped ( I like to be scared silly as i read with one little light on!) and alas - for me this book didn't have that effect. His doubts about the ethical mores of his fellow Doctors were on the other hand the most interesting psychological
... morestudy in the book and i am glad that at least had some depth. less
