review 1: I think I just found a new favourite author. Greenslades voice is one I really enjoy and, despite some shoddy behaviour, I identified on some level with each of her characters and their story, and cared about their outcome. A bit suspenseful but not in a typical "mystery story" kind of way. More of a "family secret" kind of way. This is one of those books that I will always wish I could have a first time with all over again.
review 2: The book begins with Maggie as an adult and it would have been interesting to know what kind of women the girls had grown up into. Greenslade doesn't tell us. I really enjoyed the relationship between the sisters and their struggle with their mother's disappearance was realistic. The letters written between the sisters are ex
... morecellent. The end of the books is rushed though. The mystery of their mom's disappearance is resolved but it felt like Greenslade was trying to wrap it up because the book had a page limit. Despite the fact that the ending was rather abrupt, it is a moving story. less
