review 1: I'm not sure what it is about being at home but I seem to gravitate back to the books of my childhood as opposed to any I have on the Kindle.I do enjoy the story of 'A Little Princess' but the writing of Burnett isn't as easy a read as say Nesbit (Railway Children).What I found interesting in this read through was the difference between our heroine in this book and the heroine in 'A Secret Garden' - they're raised in the same country and written by the same author but are as different as chalk and cheese. I think it has been the same amount of years since I have read ASG as ALP but this is my favourite of the two - and is certainly a good book for children to read.
review 2: This book is about a little girl who stays in a house for girls because her father is o... moreut at war. Her father is very wealthy, so he makes sure she has the best room and gets waited on hand and foot. When he dies at war, the lady who runs the house for girls moves the little girl into the attic and makes her clean the house, she barely feeds the little girl because the little girl can no longer afford to live there. As the little girl sits in the attic she makes a friend from across the way. The more she gets mistreated, the more she misses her father. One day, the man across the way realizes that the soldier he has been taking care of has a little girl. Once her father gets better, he goes to the house for girls and takes his daughter back home. She is so happy to know that he was actually alive and that he does care about her. The woman who runs the house for girls was fired. less
