review 1: I read Forgotten God over the summer and thought to myself that I would love to do the accompanying study, but had no one to do it with. A month later, my friend invited me to a Bible study that was just happening to begin this study. I loved taking each chapter week by week and watching the accompanying DVD with Francis Chan presenting an object lesson with our discussion. I highly recommend this study!
review 2: This is the accompanying book/workbook to "Forgotten God" by Francis Chan. I give this workbook 5 stars with great enthusiasm because it did what an accompanying workbook/study book is supposed to do for this genre of spiritual growth book. You can read my review of Forgotten God as well which has great detail about the book and the benefits of the co
... morembination of books.Remembering the Forgotten God is a very good accompaniment which is not always the case for these types of study books. The questions are very appropriate, they are well tied to the original text, but for those in our study group who did not purchase "Forgotten God" or read it, they were still able to follow along and participate on various levels, even if they didn't get the fullness of the teaching and instruction had they read both. Also, the questions were such that we had great conversations in our study group and many in the group found the discussions and answers to the questions very helpful and insightful. I did exercise some liberties and independence when covering the questions in the handbook in order to focus on a specific point, but that is the prerogative of study group leaders to ensure the best possible outcome of the study and time spent in the corresponding books. We did not try to cover a chapter a week in this workbook as we went through it, but took 2 or even 3 weeks on some chapters in order for everyone to be able to process the information on a heart level and also feel comfortable sharing whatever was going on internally as they followed along and prayed through the workbook and book.Personally, I could not, nor could our group have benefited as much as we did from "Forgotten God" without the assistance of "Remembering the Forgotten God" and also being willing to move slowly through the material and not trying to keep to a schedule. If you are leading a small group or bible study of some kind, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND these books for you and your group. The topic (the Holy Spirit) is either misunderstood or not understood at all by so many professing Christians. Moreover, building a strong and biblically based belief and daily trust in the Holy Spirit is essential for any person who sincerely wants to live a life following Jesus. One can not seek to accomplish that without knowing and believing in the role and power of the Holy Spirit in their lives which God has intended and made possible. less
