review 1: We received a free copy of this book through First Reads. As soon as my kids opened the envelope, they begged me to read it! I was impressed with the quality of the book--hardcover! My 5 and 3 year old loved it! They thought parts of it were funny and even laughed out loud. They enjoyed the rhyming, although at times, I found the flow of it disrupted. For me, I enjoyed it because my kids enjoyed it, but I did find the story a little odd.
review 2: Book received courtesy of author for a reviewI was very excited that Freddi French chose to send me a copy of "Millie the Mouth". I love the cover; children will definitely be drawn to it. The story is cute. There's a mouse in the frig that no one knows about named Millie. Millie is a huge, hungry mouse that mi... morexes lots of ingredients together to make a chicken pot pie. It reminded me a bit of "The Cat in the Hat". The problem, for me, came with the rhythm and cadence of the rhyming. The words seemed to flow beautifully and then, all of the sudden, the rhythm broke down. I've read it several times and will continue to try to find out why exactly that happens. less
