review 1: This book was a huge disappointment. I (like everyone else) was really looking forward to Ebhear & Izzy's story. Ebhear's 'change' was not flattering to me. I didn't enjoy his character at all in this book. I wanted him to be DIFFERENT from his brothers and sister (other than Feargus & Morfryd). But really it was like the author combined Keita, Briec, and Gwenvael and there ya go, we have the new and not so improved Ebhear. And after their history, WHERE WAS THE ANGST? There wasn't any. Which was unfulfilling. Izzy was to forgiving. I wanted her to kick Ebhears ass. A lot. Bummer.
review 2: Finally!!!! Izzy & Éibhear are together. While I hated their constant bickering and arguing, they were at least more realistic in their feelings towards one another as oppo... moresed to Talaith & Briec. I love how Aiken involves humor and family dysfunction to all her books. What is awesome about it is the fact that this could be any family we are reading about - although its dragons that make many of the characters in the book. I loved the ending and how it points to two new beginings - both of which will affect the family and the future of Garbahn Isle. less
