My ULTRA LASIK Journey with Shinagawa

I was the girl who’d always wear a pair of glasses whenever and wherever that I even forgot how to see the world clearly without wearing some. For 11 long years, I’ve been living and suffering with migraines and poor eyesight. Once, I dreamt of doing things without the hassle of wearing prescription eyeglasses. I tried to wear contacts but for very special occasions only. The first time I wore them was during my high school prom, second time was during our college culminating activity and the last time was during my wedding day. I never really opted to wear contacts on a daily basis because just the thought of poking my eye, cleaning contact lenses with a solution, washing my hands before sticking ’em on my eyeballs makes me sick and lazy plus I’m too scared to fall asleep, bathe, swim while wearing them on because I’m quite a forgetful person. So, getting a LASIK eye surgery was the only way for me to finally be free from specs.

Last week, I went to Shinagawa Lasik & Aesthetics in Makati for a full eye screening. This 2-hour comprehensive eye test will determine if I’m a good candidate for LASIK. Little did I know, that day would be the last day I will ever have to wear my eyeglasses because at the end of the eye screening and consultation, the doctor gave me a green light for ULTRA LASIK! Hurray! I was given this pamphlet to have an overview of my upcoming LASIK Surgery.

December 10, 2017 (Day 1): Full Eye Screening & Consultation

This is it! I was very much excited to have LASIK! As a matter of fact, I felt really brave, relaxed and secured because I know, Dr. Jaime Dinglasan will execute the surgery well. Given that he’s very competent, he’s also one of the best doctors in the industry. Shinagawa Lasik & Aesthetics is one of the most well-known and reputable LASIK Centers in the country and the world’s largest LASIK Surgery provider. It is also the leading chain of aesthetic clinics in Japan with more than 29 years of experience. As of this date, it has 47 branches all over Japan and 2 in the Philippines.

December 11, 2017 (Day 2): My ULTRA LASIK Eye Surgery

Before anything else, they made me wash my face thoroughly with their very own product, Derma Celesty, because I wouldn’t be able to wash my face for the first 24 hours after my LASIK surgery.

Then they assisted me to the recovery room where I was given the post-operation care kit and instructions on how to use its contents. Also, I was told what to expect during and after the surgery.

Here, comes the surgery… I was really amazed because it was just quick, safe and painless. Dr. Dinglasan did my right eye first, then left eye. To be honest, there was some sort of discomfort, especially with the suction he did to create a flap but nonetheless, it was still tolerable for me. It’s the most unforgettable experience I ever had! My ULTRA LASIK Surgery lasted only 10 minutes for both eyes. I felt that I’m in good hands with Dr. Dinglasan and his LASIK team for they took really good care of my welfare during the surgery.

After the surgery at the recovery room.

Dr. Dinglasan and his LASIK team congratulated me for my successful operation. I was brought to their recovery room so I could rest my eyes. I called my husband overseas to tell him that my eye surgery was done and it was successful. He was very happy for me, telling me that I can finally appreciate the world with him without using eyeglasses. Then, I was checked once again by Dr. Dinglasan to see if my eyes were fine from trauma after the procedure and he confirmed that I’m good to go.

After that, I went out of the recovery room to go with my mom and brother. Supposedly, I should stay there to rest while waiting for my brother to pick us up after his work out but I thought that everything is okay so I decided to accompany my mom and bro instead, well… I was wrong. Lol. While on our way to the gym, my eyes were super sensitive to light and they felt really grainy like my eyes got soaked in a pool of sand, I can’t barely open them. But I got amazed because though I had a cloudy vision on that very moment, I can already see the difference, I can somehow read all the traffic signs and plate numbers. Like little by little, my vision was being restored.

@ Anytime Fitness Lobby

My mom and I waited for my brother at the lobby of Anytime Fitness. I managed to sleep for a while but because the lights were so bright, I woke up and that was the time I realized that my eyes really hurt. I felt the light rays striking through my closed eyes, maybe it’s because they were too sensitive to light. I also felt the cut of the flap in both of my eyes. I was really teary but I never took the pain relievers given to me by the clinic. My mom told my brother to hurry up as she wanted to bring me back to the clinic but I told them, “It’s fine, everything will be okay. This is expected.” Thank God for my high pain treshold. While enduring the pain, I just thought of this good old motto, “No pain, No gain.”

After the 2-hour agony of pain, I felt better. Thank Heavens for giving me strength and endurance! We went to Dampa Seafood Paluto in Paranaque to celebrate the success of my eye surgery. Although my eyes were still hazy and a bit sensitive to light, no sensitivity could ever stop me from eating! Lol.

Then we headed to SM Mall of Asia for some strolling…

After that long and tiring day, we finally went home to Pampanga. I slept with my eye patch on to avoid myself from unconsciously scratching my eye while asleep. My recovery from ULTRA LASIK Surgery was really quick, just imagine, same day after the surgery we went to different places and I still manage to enjoy though there was a slight discomfort because of hazy vision and sensitivity to light, still, it was all bearable for me!

Upon waking up the next day, I was in awe of my current eyesight! I couldn’t just believe it! It’s way much better than my vision before even with prescription eyeglasses! I dropped by at Shinagawa for my first post-op check up. The optometrist and Dr. Dinglasan confirmed that my vision is now 20/12!

December 12, 2017 (Day 3): Post-operation Check up

Many thanks to Dr. Jaime Dinglasan and his LASIK team for ensuring quick, safe, painless and life-changing procedure that perfected my vision from 550 (right eye) and 350 (left eye) to 20/12! I couldn’t be more happy with the result, I never thought that I will be able to appreciate the world this crystal clear! My current eyesight even exceeded the standard eye vision of 20/20!

I’m so thankful to my loved ones, my brother, my mom and my husband for guiding and supporting me throughout this delicate procedure. Also, I’m ever thankful to our Almighty God, for this wonderful gift of HD Vision that He granted me through  Shinagawa Lasik & Aesthetics.
