review 1: For my reader friends, please give this a try-grabbed me from the prologue and goes through hundreds of years of history through the saga of a family. I have never finished a book and then went right back to the beginning to read it again. Rich in story, remembrance is all we have to give when we are gone. It is an investment at 700+ pages. My sense of whimsy was intrigued by the classification-semi-fictional.
review 2: Eh. The author is a wonderful storyteller. The book's premise is unique and imaginative, but I like to get attached and there were too many characters to keep track of. Also, I love heroes - someone I can rally behind or whose positive characteristics as least outweigh their despicability.
