review 1: After reading the first and second in the Moonlight Breed series, I have to say I found that all the plots are very formulaic: Struggle between the two main characters before finally conceding to a relationship -> Evil threat arises -> The primary catcher in the relationship is threatened or affected by said evil -> Big bad pitcher stomps foot and goes oogah oogah -> Group plans on what to do with aforementioned evil threat -> Group arms themselves for a great battle against evil threat -> Evil threat vanquished -> Hip hip hurray cuddle lovin' smexin luv luv -> The end.And don't forget to sprinkle great heaps of smexin all around. It wasn't that I didn't find myself enjoying the novels since I wouldn't have continued with the series if I had, but after reading three in the ... moreseries now I'm getting a bit bored with the predictable plots, so unfortunately I'm dropping this series.
review 2: I really liked this third book in the series. The characters from the first two books are back, there is emotional drama, a physical threat and we meet more characters who will hopefully appear in future books. A lot to achieve in such a relatively short read, but I think Gabrielle Evans pulls it off well. The idea of a mated pair where one mate refuses to claim the other (to protect him) is interesting. Especially when you add a large age difference into the mix.Talon, as nice as he was trying to be, not wanting to reduce Jackson's life span by bonding with him, nevertheless infuriated me. It took him a long time to understand that there was no point in him trying to withdraw to give Jackson space. They were mates no matter what he believed, so pulling away from Jackson only hurt both of them.Jackson was amazingly patient. Well, mostly, he was desperately in love with Talon. I liked the way he stood up to the older man, didn't give up, and managed to save his brother and old pack in the process. If you like stories about unusual shifters, emotionally tortured heroes who make each other's lives miserable before they 'get with the program', and want some plot with your hot sex scenes, you might like this book. less
